About Gugulethu Hlela

Welcome to House of Hlela Royal Wines. We are a boutique winery of authentic South African wine based in The Netherlands. My name is Gugulethu (with my husband in the picture), which means "Treasure" in English, and I am the official agent in Europe for the wine labels Bukhosi ("Royalty") and Delisa ("Satisfaction"), owned by my aunt, HRH Princess Ntombifuthi Zulu.

As the daughter of a Zulu-born Princess and the great-great-great grand-niece of 👑 HM King Shaka Zulu, I regard it as a wonderful opportunity to represent the heritage and excellence of South African wine-making traditions. My aunt has lived in the UK and other parts of Africa for decades, acquiring her taste and love for wine. Some 30 years ago, she returned to her home land and developed her own wine labels, Delisa and Bukhosi. Together with her daughter Thandiwe, they run the first Royal Zulu-women-owned wine farm, “Groot Droom Royal Farm”, in the Western Cape South Africa.
